Abstract
Certain airspace disputes between States, for which proceedings have been commenced before international courts and tribunals, such as the Qatar ICAO Appeals cases, can be seen as extensions or 'proxies' for an underlying geopolitical dispute. This often involves core questions of international law concerning questions on States' territorial sovereignty and sovereign rights.
