Professor Yoshinori Abe

Yoshinori Abe is Professor of International Law at Gakushuin University in Tokyo, Japan. He teaches and researches in the field of public international law specializing in international trade law and international investment law. He is also affiliated to the International Trade and Investment Dispute Settlement Division of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he is giving legal advice on WTO and investment dispute settlement. He was a Visiting Fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law in Cambridge. He is currently a member of the Committee on Global Health Law of the International Law Association as well as a member of the Council on Customs and Tariff of the Japanese Ministry of Finance.
Yoshinori's recent research has focused on dispute settlement in international economic law and public international law. His current research especially deals with the issues concerning the use of economic and scientific analysis in the WTO dispute settlement and investment arbitration. He is also conducting a research project on the international legal framework for digital trade and e-commerce.
He obtained his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Tokyo, and his LL.M from the University of Cambridge.
