Ina C. Popova is a partner in Debevoise & Plimpton LLP's International Dispute Resolution Group whose practice focuses on international arbitration, complex commercial litigation and public international law. Ms. Popova is admitted to practice in Paris and New York and holds advanced degrees in English law. She has particular experience in the mining and energy sectors, in which she regularly handles multi-billion-dollar disputes involving commercial, environmental and public international law issues across a variety of jurisdictions.
Ms. Popova is dual-qualified in civil law and common law and she frequently leads contentious matters in Spanish and French. She has advised extensively on the interpretation of investment instruments, the impact of international sanctions regimes, the interaction between international law and domestic law, the interpretation and enforcement of concession agreements, international commodities and distribution contracts, the impact of regulatory change on investor rights, complex shareholder disputes, and comparative law issues. She represents private clients and States in arbitrations governed by various substantive laws and conducted under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, ICSID and UNCITRAL, and in court proceedings in federal and state courts in the United States, including the United States Supreme Court.
