Alberto Madero-Rincón is a Senior Associate at Zuleta Abogados Asociados S.A.S. His practice focuses on international arbitration, public international law, international trade law and human rights.
Mr. Madero has experience representing clients in international arbitration proceedings in the oil & gas, infrastructure, telecommunications and aeronautics industries held under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), UNCITRAL Rules, and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (CIADI).
Prior to joining Zuleta Abogados Asociados, Mr. Madero was a Foreign Associate at the Houston and New York offices of King & Spalding. He also served as an advisor to the Head of Colombia’s Antitrust Agency on a wide array of regulatory and enforcement matters. He participated in antitrust enforcement proceedings and merger reviews, and elaborated the agenda of legislative reforms required for Colombia’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Mr. Madero has substantial experience in international trade law, having served as member of Colombia’s negotiating team in five Free Trade Agreements and as an advisor in the International Legal Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Trade. He was part of the team of lawyers that designed the institutional architecture of the Pacific Alliance, one of the most ambitious regional integration blocs in the Americas. His expertise in WTO dispute settlement proceedings builds on his experience representing the Colombian government before WTO adjudicating bodies, and serving as an intern advising panels at the WTO Legal Affairs Division.
