Professor Mark Davison

Mark Davison is a Professor in the Faculty of Law at Monash University where he teaches and researches primarily in the area of intellectual property. He is the first author of all three editions of Shanahan's Australian Law of Trade Marks and Passing Off that have been published since the introduction of the Trade Marks Act 1995 (Cth). The work is the leading Australian reference work on trade mark law. His other publications include a monograph on the legal protection of databases published by Cambridge University Press, co-authorship of Australian Intellectual Property Law, also published by Cambridge University Press, and co-authorship with Sam Ricketson and Megan Richardson of a casebook on Australian Intellectual Property Law. He is a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Council of Australia, special counsel with Knightsbridge Lawyers and a member of the Australian government's Expert Advisory Group on Plain Packaging of Tobacco Products.
