Dr. Christopher Harris
Profile
Christopher Harris is a barrister specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration.
He is regularly instructed in complex commercial disputes and many of his cases have an international or conflict of laws dimension. Christopher has substantial experience of arbitration and mediation and holds the qualification MCIArb. He is also a member of ICC UK, YIAG and the Swiss Arbitration Association.
Christopher's arbitration practice covers both investment arbitrations and domestic and international commercial arbitrations. On the investment arbitration side, Christopher is currently awaiting the award in a high-value ICSID arbitration arising out of the telecommunications sector, and engaged in a further ICSID arbitration brought under the Energy Charter Treaty relating to oil exploration rights. Christopher has been recognised for this work by the 2007 edition of the Legal 500.
On the commercial arbitration side, Christopher is currently involved in two large ICC arbitrations, one relating to an infrastructure project, the other to the supply of defence equipment. He is also acting for the Defendant in an ad hoc arbitration under the Arbitration Act 1996 in relation to the sale of a yacht.
Christopher speaks French and German and has regularly used both languages in his practice.
