David J. Howell

David J. Howell has more than 30 years' experience in the arbitration of international commercial, energy, construction and engineering disputes.
He was co-head of the global international arbitration practice of Fulbright & Jaworski based in their London office from 2005 until 2013. Prior to that he was head of the Asia disputes practice of the global law firm Baker & Mckenzie based in their Singapore office from 1987. He commenced legal practice in the London office of Coward Chance in 1980 and was based in the Dubai office of Clifford Chance from 1984 to 1987.
He has acted as principal counsel and advocate or sat as arbitrator in arbitrations held under ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, AAA, SIAC, SCC and other rules, seated in London, Paris, Singapore, Stockholm, Zurich, Houston and elsewhere. Recent and current arbitrator appointments include ICC and LCIA arbitration proceedings seated in London.
He is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators. He is a Solicitor Advocate of the English Higher Courts (Civil) and is admitted in both England & Wales and in Hong Kong.
